Hi all, You know I like graphics ;D I've been playing with userbars lately, they're fun and quick to do once you have a good template. If you don't know what I am talking about check it out here: www.userbars.com/So I thought about this: I'm offering myself to create one for each of the VAs here represented; 4 companies - but I would need to hear from the other 3 CEOs. My idea is..... sometimes I have trouble identifying the pilots registered here at the VFG forum, because they use nicks on both username and signature. So maybe each pilot could add this little piece of graphic to his/hers signature, indicating also their VA ID and real name; I would add AW001 Joao Paz and the Alaskan Winds userbar. Here's some examples I did for the pilots at the Flying Tigers Group.

They look great Joao and personally I like the idea. I have the same problem sometimes figuring out who's who on some of the posts <L>

Although it make take awhile for our CEO to approve, he's been a little busy with lately.

Good point Gord. I should also add though that these are freely available for any pilot to create on their own (although Joao is clearly the guy to go to if you're looking for great graphics!).
As optional pilot signatures I'm thinking they probably don't need any formal approval. In fact, the member VA logos and names are already displayed here.

Steve,
First off, you need some webspace (for example, Photobucket) where you can store the images you want to display (like the userbar).
Next, you have to modify your profile (the "profile" link is near the top of the page you're viewing - shown along with "home" "map" "search" "members"... etc.). There, you can add both a signature and your userbar image in the box labeled "Signature".
If you need any more guidance, PM me and I'll see what I can do to help you.

Hi guys! You can use the current url of the userbars. I'm hosting them and do not plan to delete them from the site so no problem at all!. Steve, here's the code to put in your signature field (just remove the spaces I'm adding): [ img ] virtualflightgroup.romanesca.com/twfuserbar.gif [ /img ] As Tom told you, this code should go to your profile. It's basically the same code we use to add screenshots to our posts it's called an "image tag". Check with you Gents later! Joao

Thanks guys,
I looked all over for that "profile" link more than once. I knew it had to be there, but never found it. Getting blind in my old age I guess. OK I have the picture now about hosting graphics off site. I guess I'll need to break down and sign up for one.
Well, I got the userbar url in my profile but still no userbar, just the url. What spaces were you asking me to remove Joao?

Steve, Like Joao said... enclose the URL in image tags... {img} (except, use the square brackets instead of the curly ones) at the start of the URL, and {/img} (again, with square brackets) at the end. Make sure there are no spaces between the brackets and the "img" or "/img", otherwise, it won't work. It's hard to show you exactly, because if you type the line the way its supposed to be, it will show up just like this... If you want to copy the userbar line as it should be, click the "Modify" button on my message, and copy the text of the above line into your signature. Tom

Hi guys! I was able to go in and correct Steve's signature. It is showing up now Steve, go in again and just check what I did: that's the same method to display images on your flights - or at any post you wish! Joao

Hey Tom,
It is slowly sinking in.... and Joao, I see you have my userbar working, and I understand that to post an image (from another website) I need the url surrounded by the img and /img. Am I learning HTML here?

Hey Tom, It is slowly sinking in.... and Joao, I see you have my userbar working, and I understand that to post an image (from another website) I need the url surrounded by the img and /img. Am I learning HTML here? Well, sort of! In these forums members can use a code called UBB. That's a variation of HTML The admins here may use both... UBB on the posts and quite complex HTML actually to add to the forum's functionality! For instance, to put a text string to bold... In UBB you use [ b ]TEXT HERE[ /b ] and in HTML you use < b >TEXT HERE< /b > So you see, that's exactly the same, replacing the square brackets by the "minor than" and "major than" chrs. When you are typing a post here, check the icons above the smilies line; those icons will add the corresponding TAGs to the body text field where u type. And you can do like this: Select a word that you want to bold, and click the bold icon; the tag will be applied to the text you previously selected. Well..... hope it helps! JayP
