As you may be aware, this months flight was cancelled. I really don't see this as a big problem as things like this happen from time to time. There are other Staff Members here that feel like there is no more interest in VFG and that this months cancellation and the general low turnout on some of the flights is reason for them to pull our of this venture. I am interested in hearing what the general membership has to say. Staff Members, please do not respond to this poll. You can air your comments in the Staff Area.

I care about MP, whever that happens to be. I'm thinking summer can be hit and miss for particiaption as well. I would say if it doesn't get better in the fall then it's not to be.
So I'm voting yes on the principal, I don't want to vote "I don't care" because I do care, just don't care where I do an MP.

Maybe there is too much overlap between what VA's do and the VFG?

When VFG was formed the principle was that each VA would produce a flight on a different month on a rotating circuit, so 4 airlines equates to 3 flights per year per airline. We manage to produce our own flights and then put stuff on hold for the VFG flight. I know what happened over last weekend and Yep i put the other flight on along with Dave from TWA for those that wanted an MP, was it hard No, it had already been prepared in basic form, for a TWA meet. The question that has arisen is why did no one from Margarita comunicate with someone else at Margarita and knock up a quick flight plan, It doesnt have to be exotic or flamboyant just a basic plan. What got to me was that right up until late saturday UK time there had been nothing posted and that is why we jumped in. Thats why i have come to the stage where I dont care, If VFG survives and we keep flying Ok if not then i always will have TWA to fall back on as I know there will be flights there. And as a parting point Yes I know there is a real world out there with all the things that take presidence, mine is called ATC or ( THE WIFE)

Hi guys, This is Joao, the pilot, not the CEO. I've always enjoyed these flights a lot so I don't see why we should put an end to it. Sure, I'll have to skip flights ocasionally, but I'm in Joao (the pilot, not the CEO ... or as they'd say on BOTA, "the penguin, not the pills) ;D BTW, didn't cast my vote here.

Not my poll, but I do fall under the "other staff members" category above so I thought I would at least try to clear up a few misconceptions.
There seems to be fixation on the idea that I'm leaving because the August flight was canceled, so let's put that one to rest for starters. It's misleading to say that because one flight fell through, some of us are moving on. The issue with schedules, flights etc. that I've raised before in the admin area has been an ongoing thing for quite a while. It became obvious over time that this wasn't going to change so I elected to move on to other things. As sometimes happens in groups like this, that ruffled a few feathers. Well, I do think everyone will get past this and hopefully keep flying, but no apologies folks. I helped launch this outfit a year ago with a specific approach in mind and it's changing in ways I don't really like so I made a decision to go.
The wording here is that low turnout on some of the flights is also a reason for leaving. That's a matter of opinion more than anything else. We see things differently there and I've been very clear in my stand on this in the past; low turnout here over the long term has more to do with how things are sometimes handled than with pilot interest. That's only an opinion obviously, but one that came from working firsthand within the group. It's an opinion that people sometimes don't like hearing, and sometimes gets taken personally. I think there's also a perception that I was deliberately blaming someone specific. The ironic thing is, the issue of blame never came up from my end.
What I've said before in other forum areas still stands; at the end of the day we're not all in agreement on how best to run the group. That's just life, sometimes things do work out that way and the best thing to do is part company. It's really not any more complicated than that.

Well Dan, I don't know what you mean but "we're not all in agreement on how best to run the group". This group is run by staff consensus and that has how it has been since day one. I don't recall any discussions about running it any differently.

OK Guys,
Bottom line, VFG will continue although under a new name. The new name has not been determined yet.
AW, AAS and MAC are committed to the continued operation of VFG.
Since Drew and Dan have resigned, that leaves TWF with noone to plan the VFG session when it is TWFs turn on the rotation. Is there a TWF member that would like to step up to the plate and take this one. The person that volunteers for this job would be a VFG staff member with Global Moderator rights and access to the staff area.

I'm not from TWF, but as a MAC pilot, I was a refugee of what seemed to be the end of another VA, Mainland Pilot's Club, which mainly flies in the Vancouver area and is structured similarly to Margarita.
However, one pilot did step up to the plate, and Mainland is starting to breathe new life again and VFG has made a showing in its forum. If Mainland can make a comeback (and yes, there has been a few pilots MIA recently) then I believe VFG will still be around.

I just joined minutes ago, so of course I vote to keep going. I want to see what is going on and participate in a few flights at least. In addition to Margartita Air Club, I belong to DC3Airways and fly often with them.
I seemed to preclude others from getting on line for some reason at Margarita Air (some problem between my PC and the server) but I am also often on Vatsim flying Central America and Northern South America at night as DCA1212 or Pelican223 (my call sign from RVN). Right now I'm landing a Goon at Quepos in Costa Rica. I sailed a 43 foot Asian Pacific from Ensenada to Quepos 2 years ago with another American and crew chief from my old unit in RVN and a Mexican National so I know the Pacific coast of Centeral America better than most.
I fought forest fires at Chicken and Tok Junction and worked at POW Main at Point Barro as a teen so I know Alaska as well.
Like many of the Military pilots here I have had tours in Europe and Vietnam.
My favorite all around Airplane is the C-47/DC-3 in both the real and virtual worlds. I had some 2700 hours flying helicopters in the real world and can't even hover in FS.
Yeah, I would like to get a chance to fly with all of you. That's about the only flying left for me.
